Odette loves the cream-and-gilt prettiness of an Italian painted console. The carved rococo apron is centered with a shell and laced with delicate trellis carving, all picked out in gilt against a soft, worn ivory paint, and it dances on slender cabriole legs with scrolled feet. A dark stone top grounds the whole thing and shrugs off everyday use. The light, faded palette makes it easy to place in an entry, behind a sofa, or as a small writing table.
