Zelda Speight-John

Zelda Speight-John is an emerging artist based in Austin, Texas. Her current work incorporates textiles, paint, paper, and various mixed media to explore the relationship between nature and domesticity. Through collage, she often depicts landscapes and decorative objects that bear traces of the natural world. Zelda believes that humans are inherently drawn to nature—celebrating its wildness while simultaneously attempting to capture and contain it, placing it on a shelf or a wall.

Zelda's work explores a fascination by the interplay of bringing nature indoors and extending the comforts of the indoors outward. To express this, she uses found fabrics, paper, and paint to blur the boundaries between interior space and the natural environment.
