Anne Emack Couch
About the Artist
Anne Emack Couch’s art career has had a long and interesting progression. Classically trained and a Hollins College studio art graduate, she created portraits in the 1970s and ‘80s that are now displayed throughout the South. In 1984, she co-founded a Birmingham decorative art business, Handpaints, successfully spanning decades.
After studying at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina, the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design and the Washington Studio School in D.C., she returned to the human form as subject. Her interest in composition, layering of texture, and mixed media is evident in these subtle figurative abstracts.
