Odette is always thrilled to find an original mercury plate this dramatic. The glass is heavily oxidized — clouded silver scattered with dark speckle and cloudy patches, the unmistakable look of real, untouched 19th-century mercury silvering. Around it, a worn giltwood frame has rubbed back to warm red bole in places, all soft, honest age. Nothing here is reproduced or 'antiqued'; it simply earned every mark. Lovely over a small console or layered into a collected wall. Atmospheric, original, and full of history.
