Odette Collective
A romantic, time-worn French chinoiserie desk from the Napoleon III period, around 1850 — exactly the kind of storied piece Odette treasures. The body is japanned in deep black lacquer and hand-painted in gilt with delightful chinoiserie scenes: birds in flight, garden pavilions, figures, and trailing foliage across the drawer fronts and apron. The cabriole legs are lacquered a rich oxblood red and finish in gilt-touched paw feet, with a soft fan of gilding spreading at the knees. Nearly two centuries of life have crackled and gently worn the lacquer, revealing warm tones beneath — the kind of patina that can't be reproduced and that gives the desk its soul.
