Odette Collective
A beautifully made French bureau plat from around 1900, the sort of proper writing desk Odette loves for the way it brings instant polish to a study. Built of warm rosewood in the Louis XV manner, it's finished on all sides — a true freestanding 'doctor's desk' meant to float in a room — and topped with an inset leather writing surface tooled in gilt and bordered in brass. A bank of drawers with rococo brass pulls runs across the front, and gilt-bronze mounts dress the corners above gently curving cabriole legs that end in brass sabots. The whole piece has aged gracefully, the leather and brass mellowed to a soft glow. Use it as a home-office or library desk, or float it behind a sofa as a striking console. Elegant, functional, and built for a lifetime of letters.
